He studied creative writing at The University of South Alabama and spent six years in the US Army after a decade-long tour of duty in retail management. He made it back from Afghanistan with only PTSD, but still preferred the situation to retail.

Ryan writes predominantly horror tales, but occasionally branches out into sci-fi, fantasy, and some combinations of the three.

His writing appears in the the horror and dark suspense anthology, Dark Places, Evil Faces Vol. 2, on the Nocturnal Transmissions podcast (Cloud Nine and A Little Death), Red Sun Magazine (Issue 5), and in upcoming Fall 2019 publications.
